The Qatar National Convention Centre is the largest convention centre in the Middle East, able to cater for up to 7,000 people in its three main halls. Incorporated are a 2,300 seat theatre, an exhibition hall, plus conference and banqueting facilities for major functions. The building is LEED Gold.
The project was managed by Astad/KEO on behalf of clients Qatar Foundation and Qatar Petroleum. The building’s conceptual design is by celebrated Japanese architect, Arata Isozaki. He incorporated an organic tree-like structure in the main façade, symbolising the Sidra Tree, the emblem of Qatar Foundation.
Aedas took over from Schematic Design through to Development Design Stage, including full Interior Design and FF&E, after which the project was transferred to a Design and Build Contract.
